DentalGoodNews|August 20, 2026, AI-driven cloud-native dental practice management software vendor Curve Dental announced an investment of $200 million in further R&D for its flagship product Curve Hero and native ecosystem. The company's current annual recurring revenue (ARR) is approaching $100 million, primarily driven by organic growth.
According to the company, it currently holds approximately 20% share in the North American cloud-based Dental Practice Management Software (DPMS) market. This large-scale R&D investment aims to consolidate its market position among approximately 160,000 dental clinics in North America, covering solo practices, small dental groups, and Dental Service Organizations (DSOs). Currently, approximately 85% of clinics in the region still rely on traditional client-server systems, positioning the industry at a critical juncture of cloud migration.
Curve Dental Chairman and CEO Dave Cormack predicts that as the market rapidly shifts from legacy systems to the cloud, the currently oversaturated vendor landscape will undergo large-scale consolidation. Cormack expects that over the next 36 to 48 months, more than 40% of dental practice management software vendors will cease to exist. He believes that some vendors, which have been purchasing market share by burning cash flow while neglecting R&D and customer service, will find it unsustainable during this transition period.

In terms of product strategy, Curve Dental emphasizes that its platform is built entirely natively, offering a single sign-on experience that encompasses practice management, AI-driven patient engagement, intelligent phone integration, insurance verification, RCM (revenue cycle management), and orthodontic workflows. Dave Cormack stated that compared to product lines assembled through acquisitions, a native cloud platform effectively addresses pain points such as data fragmentation, inconsistent interfaces, and integration complexity, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership for clinics.
