Non-drug Chitosan Periodontal Dressing Receives FDA Clearance, Premier Secures Exclusive Distribution in the U.S. Market

DentalGoodNews｜August 14, 2026 - Premier Dental (hereinafter referred to as "Premier"), a U.S. dental consumables manufacturer, announced an exclusive distribution agreement with U.S. medical technology company Forward Science. Premier will become the exclusive distributor of PerioStom, an FDA-cleared non-pharmaceutical oral wound dressing, in the U.S. market, responsible for the product's commercialization and clinical education nationwide.

According to Forward Science, PerioStom utilizes biocompatible polymer - chitosan microsphere technology, and can be directly applied into periodontal pockets following periodontal treatments such as scaling and root planing (SRP). The product is designed to form a bioadhesive protective barrier that promotes gingival healing while protecting sensitive tissues from irritation and trauma.

Data shows that PerioStom was independently developed by Forward Science and first launched in May 2025, with a research and development cycle of approximately ten years. Upon its market debut, it received FDA-cleared designation as a non-pharmaceutical oral wound dressing. Following the signing of this distribution agreement, technology development and manufacturing of the product remain with Forward Science, while Premier assumes the exclusive distribution role within the U.S. market.

Premier CEO Perry Lowe stated that PerioStom can be used for post-operative care without altering existing periodontal treatment protocols. The company will leverage its nationwide distribution network to expand the product's accessibility and plans to conduct related clinical education activities.

According to previous reports by DGN, Premier established a strategic partnership with Private Equity firm Radial Equity Partners in February 2025, aiming to leverage external resources to further consolidate its position in the global dental market. The collaboration with Forward Science is also viewed as one of its initiatives to continuously deepen its product portfolio.
