DentalGoodNews|May 27, 2026. Dental technology evaluation company Dental Reviewed released the "2026 Dental AI" research report. Based on a survey of 300 dental practitioners in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, the report shows that approximately 12% of respondents have tried using AI tools and then stopped; among them, about 40% of those who abandoned the tools did so within 90 days of initial use.

The research points out that the three core reasons dentists abandon AI tools are: high software procurement and maintenance costs, poor integration with existing practice management system (PMS) platforms, and insufficient accuracy or reliability of AI output results. Currently, only about 32% of surveyed dentists use at least one AI tool in their daily workflow, while another 38% are actively considering adoption.

At the organizational level, group private practices and Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) show higher AI adoption rates, primarily because these organizations typically have larger technology budgets and dedicated IT support teams. According to a previous report by DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), medical AI technology company RIIG Technology has achieved integration of its solutions with mainstream management systems such as OpenDental and Dentrix Cloud, aiming to reduce clinic integration difficulty by improving interoperability.

From a functional classification perspective, radiographic image analysis platforms are currently the most widely used AI category in dentistry, with about 82% of AI users employing such tools, followed by treatment planning software. According to a previous report by DGN, 3Shape's Dx diagnostic software received FDA 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April 2026, allowing professionals to conduct AI-assisted assessments of Dental caries and gingival recession. Such regulatory clearances are expected to gradually enhance clinicians' confidence in the reliability of AI tools.

Regarding perceptions of usage effectiveness, over 50% of users view AI as a helpful "second opinion," only 2% of dentists express complete trust in AI's judgment, and another 33% explicitly state they trust their own clinical experience more. Market forecasts indicate that the global dental AI market size will reach $11.3 billion by 2030, with a projected compound annual growth rate of 37.9%.
