DentalGoodNews | April 2, 2026 – US dental software provider Planet DDS announced the launch of AI Voice Restorative Charting, officially extending its voice-driven clinical documentation capabilities from periodontal charting to restorative charting, the highest-volume area in general dentistry.
As the latest capability within the Clinical Voice+ suite, integrated into the Denticon practice management system, it allows clinicians to record dental caries, existing restorations, fractures, and treatment plan entries in real-time during restorative exams using natural language voice commands. For large Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) and multi-location dental groups, this solution aims to reduce reliance on chairside assistants and minimize clinical workflow interruptions caused by documentation through a single-operator process.
Nathan James, Chief Product Officer at Planet DDS, stated that AI Voice Perio has demonstrated the feasibility of large-scale, voice-driven charting. The newly launched restorative charting tool now covers the area with the highest volume of clinical documentation. The system can recognize dental terminology, abbreviations, and compound commands, providing a real-time voice overlay panel for doctors to review and edit entries.
According to previous reports by DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), Planet DDS has been consistently advancing in the field of artificial intelligence in recent years. In September 2025, the company launched DentalOS™, the industry's first AI-native platform designed specifically for DSOs, aiming to eliminate "process debt" and achieve end-to-end automation. Subsequently, in March 2026, the company introduced the DentalOS™ AI Agent, focused on appointment management to reduce clinic no-show rates.
This expansion of the Clinical Voice+ suite signifies Planet DDS's further development of its AI clinical ecosystem. The company disclosed that it will also launch features such as AI Voice Treatment Plan and AI Ambient Voice throughout 2026.
