DentalGoodNews|On February 13, 2026, Angelalign Technology Inc. (6699.HK) responded to the preliminary injunction issued by the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Düsseldorf, Germany, stating that the impact on orthodontists and patients using its clear aligner products is limited. The company has launched an upgraded iPlan feature for affected European users to maintain system reliability and provide greater flexibility.

The preliminary injunction requires Angelalign to suspend specific module functions in its automatic treatment plan update software in certain European countries, but it does not apply to Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Angelalign stated that the Live Now feature in its iOrtho treatment planning software does not infringe any valid patents of Align Technology Inc., and the company is confident in overturning this ruling.

The company has filed an opposition with the European Patent Office (EPO), asserting that the invention described in the patent lacks both novelty and inventiveness compared to prior art, and is seeking a permanent declaration of invalidity of the patent. Dr. Arno Riße, Angelalign's legal representative in Germany, stated: "Angelalign respects and will comply with the ruling of the Düsseldorf Unified Patent Court. However, at the same time, we will actively present evidence to demonstrate that the decision to suspend specific modules of the Live Now feature is unreasonable. Angelalign places great importance on intellectual property rights and always carefully ensures that it does not infringe any valid patent rights."

According to previous reports by DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), in August 2025, Align filed patent infringement lawsuits against Angelalign in the United States, Europe, and China. In September of the same year, Align filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), seeking to ban Angelalign products from entering the U.S. market. Angelalign had previously characterized Align's lawsuits as a "diversionary strategy" in its response.

Angelalign was founded in 2003 and listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in June 2021 (stock code 6699.HK), focusing on the research, development, production, and sales of clear aligners. In 2024, the company completed approximately 359,400 clear aligner cases globally, of which approximately 140,700 cases were in markets outside China. According to public data, Angelalign's market share in the Chinese market exceeds that of Invisalign, reaching 41.9% in 2023.
